In the land ofnfrer trade, the public does not view tobacco industries as equal. Do you believe that is ethical? Do you believe that some industries are unfairly targeted? Should it be consumers\' choice to partake in products that are not healthy for them, or those companies have an ethical obligation to protect people?
Solution
Commercial activities are different from their ethical activities. Most of the firms think and do in the same way. One side they prepare and sell products which harms to the health of people, on the other side they do some social responsible activities to feed society. We need to treat these two activities are different. It is not in the hands or perception of people, it does not deal with their interest. It is the interest of government and business parties.
The industries which really harms to the people, and society are really targeted. Government have some issues may raised about these, like: public health, protection of nature and environment, prevention activities, promote equality and so on. In this regards, the consumer choice is not considered by both producer or government.
Hence, there is no need to be considere the interest of consumers in ths aspect, some times we should not pressume that the majority decision are fair and supportable. Even most of the consumers interested at something, where government do not interest, and vice versa.
The ethical asepcts of a company and their commercial activities, both are different. We must treat these two as two different activities and aspects. The company which polluites or disturb public health may not contrubute anything to the public and vice versa. In my openion, these two are different and must considered differently.
