Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is a glycoprotein that is made up of 2 types of polypeptide H & L chains. It contains N-linked sugar chains which are essential for proper functioning of IgG molecules. These sugar chains are linked to asparagine residues of 2 H chains and N-glycosylation sites. They help antibodies to induce antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity since these antibodies have antigen-binding reactivity. Their depletion from IgG glycoprotein will certainly affects its biological activity.
