Two sources one of strength m and the other with strength 4m

Two sources, one of strength m and the other with strength 4m, are located on the x axis as shown in Fig. P6.57. Determine the location of the stagnation point in the flow produced by these sources.

Solution

the power decreases by a factor of 1/r

distance between the sources = 8l

therefore stagnetion point = 1/5 * 8l = 1.6 l from the source with strength m

that means at - 3.4l there is stagnation
