Healthy weight maintainance is helpful for maintaining a healthy life style. But there are some cultural barriers which hinders the healthy weight maintainance.They are 1. poor sleeping habit
2. Over eating
3. Malnutrition
4. Smoking habit
5. Drinking alcohol
6. Physical inactivity etc.
These factors are preventing the individuals from healthy weight gain. mal nutrition occurs due to deficiency in nutrients, vitamins and minerals. this is due to poverty and due to lack of money to afford good food.
Drinking alcohol and smoking causes obesity, sleep deprival of less than seven hours causes weight gain by releasing stress hormones and interfering with metabolic activities in the body resulting in hormones imbalance.
lack of physical activity also causes weight gain without calories being shed . Excess intake of fat foods, junk foods also influence weight gain.
As a public practitioner i would reasonably excpect to avoid Malnutrition which shows impact on weight gain. Also the awareness would be created in the public regarding the adverse effects of weight gain because of physical inactivity, excess eating , drinking of alcohol and smoking.
some of the challenges that could be faced in trying to adress cultural issues include , lack of public motivation and interest, lack of funds raised for the public welfare in treating malnutrition, lack of adherence of public to healthy diet and hard for the people to make the people quit drinking and smoking.
Now a days people in the busy life hardly get time to spend for regular exercise and any physical activity for controlling weight.
I would address these cultural issues by conducting public welfare programmes and by creating awareness in the people regarding the adverse effects which people would encounter for over weight.Also i strive for eradication of malnutrition by collecting funds and spending them for the poor who are below the margin of poverty line.
