How can organizational norms influence our ethical principle
How can organizational norms influence our ethical principles? What do we do when our individual, professional and organizational ethical codes collide?
Solution
There would be times in your professional career when the rules and regulations of the organization would conflict with the ethical principles.
The organization would want you to work as per the norms and earn revenues for the company whereas the ethics would not allow you to do that particular job.
Situations in which personal and professional ethics collides it become a dilemma for an employee and should be handled effectively so as to ensure least amount of unethical practice is adopted to get things done.
We should not completely follow our personal ethics as we are working in the market and should know that ethical considerations of individual and profession are different and should respect that. We should not be that fuzzy to adhere to your personal ethics but should know here to draw the line. In a professional environment one has to be a little flexible and diplomatic in making the process work smoothly. One way of dealing with the collision is to be very firm and strict in not compromising with the personal ethics but this is not a good practice from professional point of view.
