Question 3 What are the differences in the pH of the medium

Question 3. What are the differences in the pH of the medium that occurs when isolated chloroplasts carry out photosynthesis compared to isolated mitochondria carrying out aerobic respiration?

Question 4. Many scientists suggest that the burning of fossil fuels has led to a greenhouse effect which is an increase in the CO2 content of the atmosphere. Given this increase in atmospheric CO2, would this have a greater effect on C4 plants or C3 plants? Why?

Solution

3. isolated chloroplast will rise the temperature where isolated mitochondria will lower the pH

4. Buring of fossil fuels will lead to the production of CO2, which is a greenhouse gas. The increase in the concentration of the CO2 will lead to the increase in temperature.

We know that during high atmospheric temperature, C3 plants carry out photorespiration as its initial CO2 fixing enzyme RubiCO also have oxidase activity. Rubisco shows oxidase activity during high temperature. Whereas in C4 plants initial CO2 fixing enzyme is PEP carboxylase which doesn\'t have oxidase activity. So burning of fossil fuel will affect C3 plants

Question 3. What are the differences in the pH of the medium that occurs when isolated chloroplasts carry out photosynthesis compared to isolated mitochondria c
