A wire 27 ft long is cut into two pieces Each piece is bent
A wire 27 ft long is cut into two pieces. Each piece is bent into the shape of a square. The perimeter of the larger square is twice the perimeter of the smaller square. Find the perimeter of the larger square.
Solution
let the wire be bent cut into two pieces of length x and y
So, x+y = 27 ----(1)
4*y = 2*4x
y = 2x -----(2)
Solve equation 1 and 2:
2x+x = 27
x = 9 ft
y = 18 ft
Perimeter of larger square = 18*4 = 72 ft
