Collagen vascular diseases may lead to the formation of an aneurysm, or the ballooning of a blood vessel, generally in the aorta. Why do you think aneurysms are more likely to form in the aorta than in other vessels?
Solution
Aneurysm is a localised blood filled balloon like bulge in the walls of the blood vessel.Aneurysm can occur in any of the bloood vessel but the most common sites afre heart , brain etc.
In the heart, Aorta is more proned to Aneurysm and can occur in the Thorasic and abdominal Aortic regions.
Aorta is the largest artery of the body supplying blood to many parts of the body starting from the left ventricle. As aorta pumps huge amount of blood in the body, the blood vessels of the aorta are expected to be more proned to damage or bulging , also the pressure of pumping blood by aorta is more leading to the damage or bulging or distention of blood vessels , causing Aneurysm.
