For example a vertex is a point that lies on a graph.
Similarly suppose you have a quadratic equation
y=2x^2+x+1
for x=1 we get y=2(1)^2+1+1=2+1+1=4
hence (1,4) is a additional point so you can find as many points as you want by taking some random value of x
These are helpful when we have to graph our quadratic equation.
