Michelle is planning to build a house in an earthquake-free area. She has two pieces of land to choose from for her home\'s location. The first lot is far outside the nearest town. The second lot is just off the town\'s main street. Michelle knows the nearest fire station for both lots is located at the center of the town. Additionally, the house can be built with a wood frame or with brick. If Michelle hopes to minimize the cost of her homeowner\'s insurance, where should she build her house and which material should she use?
Solution
Since the area is Earthquake-free, there are no casualties due to these types of disasters even after living in middle of dense population. So Lot which is just off the town\'s main street, is more suitable. Also all the resources are easily available near the lot because the lot is in the town. Fire station is also near to this lot.
She should use bricks for building her house, because life of the bricks is so long while the woods require maintence time to time. More vulnerable to fire, floods or any other problems.
