Mareket segmentation is the process of deviding the total market as submarkets based on different characteristics to cover entire market. It may be done based on geographical wise, based on gender wise, on education basis, age groups, income groups, and so on. Here the product for discussion is Gloves which wares to hands and foots in winter season.
For this, we need to focus on the cusotmers and their age groups. Because the size of hands and foots are different from one to another based on their age, gender, and their skin type may be different. For the childern and kids, these sizes are different than others. So, first i devide the total market as submarkets based on age factor, kids and chilern comes under one group, adults comes under another group, teenage people comes under another group and the remaining all aged people comes under another group.
Based on these groups, I prepare size sheets to all these group, and there must be atleast three sizes for each group. The prices will be vary to all these groups, and it will be a common product for all. Initially, there wont be any variation in the product quality, appearance and few colors will be available. Later I may think about sub-segmentation like premium customers, regular customers, less income customers etc.
As I said this is a basic product, most of the customers need the product, we place these products in all supermarkets. We provide some awareness to the customers by using different promotional channels like TVs, Paper ads, Mails, Social media messages.
By this, I can say that we can easily enters into the market and capture the market.
