Melting snow The function Wd 0112d approximates the amount

Melting snow. The function W(d) = 0.112d approximates the amount of water in centimeters, that results from d centimeters of snow melting. Find the amount of water that results from snow melting from depths of 16 cm, 25 cm, and 100 cm.

Solution

W(d) = 0.112*d

Case A:

depth of snow melted = 16 cm

Amount of water = 0.112*16 = 1.792 cm

Case B:

depth of snow melted = 25 cm

Amount of water = 0.112*25 = 2.8 cm

Case C:

depth of snow melted = 100 cm

Amount of water = 0.112*100 = 11.2 cm
