1a)A = {x|x is a factor of 24} = {1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24}

B = {x|x is a factor of 16} = {1, 2, 4, 8, 16}

A B = {x|x is a factor of 24 and 16} = {1, 2, 4,8 }

hence GCF (24,16) = 8 ,the largest element in A B.

b) A = {x|x is a factor of 48} = {1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 24, 48}

   B = {x|x is a factor of 64} = {1, 2, 4, 8, 16,32,64}

A B = {x|x is a factor of 48 and 64} = {1, 2, 4,8,16}

hence GCF (48,64) = 16 ,the largest element in A B.
