| (g/L) |
Solution
Calculate volume of 1 mole of bromine gas at 88.70C and 3.70 atm by using ideal gas equation
We know that PV = nRT
V = nRT/P
n = 1 mole,
T = 88.70C = 88.7+273.15 = 361.85K,
P= 3.70 atm,
R = 0.08205 L atm mol-1 K-1 ( R = gas constant)
V = ?
Substitute these value in above equation.
V = 1 X 0.08205 X 361.85 / 3.70 = 8.024 L
volume of 1 mole of bromine gas at 88.70C and 3.70 atm = 8.024 L
molar mass of Br2 = 159.808 g/mole
thus 159.808 gm bromine have volume 8.024 L at 88.70C and 3.70 atm
density = mass/volume
density of bromine gas= 159.808/8.024 = 19.92 g/L
Ans - 19.92 g/L
