Consider an inductor with non-zero resistance. When the inductor is connected to a 12V battery, the current source (frequency 60Hz) with an rms output 12V, the current is 2A. What is the impedance at 60Hz? ohm. What is the inductance of the inductor? H.

Solution

Here ,

let the resistance is R

inductor is L

resistance , R = 12/3 = 4 Ohm

Now , for the current at 60 Hz

impedance at 60 Hz = Vrms/I

impedance at 60 Hz = 12/2

impedance at 60 Hz = 6 Ohm

2 = 12/sqrt(4^2 + (2pi * 60 * L)^2)

solving for L

L = 0.01186 H

the inductance of the inductor is 0.01186 H
