Let width of the table = x ft

Then the length = (5x +4) ft

Given perimeter of the table = 56 ft

2(length) + 2(width) = 56

2x + 2(5x+4) = 56

2x + 10x + 8 = 56

12x + 8 = 56

Subtract 8 from both the sides,

12x = 48

Divide both the sides by 12,

x = 48/12 = 4 ft

So the width of the table = 4 ft

Length = 5x + 4 = 5(4) + 4 = 24 ft
