Solution

When a small mass ‘m’ travelling with a velocity ‘v’, bombarded with a mass ‘M’ of the block. The block started to oscillating, because (it is connected by string to fixed wall) we are applying a force on the block, in the form bombardment. The maximum height of the oscillating body will depending on the force. In addition to this force, Gravitational force also will act on the block. If we resolve the force components, the net force direction is (Fnet = - mgsin) left. So, due to the net force the block will go maximum height (positive direction) first, then it will go maximum height (negative direction). This process is happening up to equilibrium. i..e, the block comes to equilibrium.

The small mass velocity is decreases due to bombardment with block. and it will move in forward direction. because, it is not connected with any fixed wall.
