Prokaryotes Mainly strict anaerobes While eukaryotes are mainly aerobic, but some facultative anaerobes by secondary modification.

For prokaryotes the the plasma membrane is the most important cell structure whereas for eukaryote mitochondria and chloroplast.

A. Cellular respiration occurs at the cell membrane in prokaryotic organims. In eukaryotic organisms it occurs in the organelles such as mitochondria (animals) and chloroplasts (plants).

b. in prokaryote the the glycolysis and krebs cycle occurs in cytosol whereas in eukaryotes the glycolysis occurs in cytosol whereas the krebs cycle occurs in mitochondrial matrix.

C. In case of prokaryotes the total ATP production ( glycolysis+ krebs cycle + Electron transport system) is 38 ATP while in case of eukaryotes it is 36 ATP.
