source: http://www.computerworld.com/article/2557944/security0/ethical-issues-for-it-security-professionals.html \"Cybercrime is crime that involves a computer and a network\" (from Wikipedia). To prevent those cybercrime, companies hire IT security professionals to protect companies\' data or confidential information. But what if the hired IT security profesional commits cybercrime using his/her knowledge and skill? The article discusses about ethical issues that IT security professionals will face. I found it interesting because person who\'s supposed to protect a company from cybercrime can become the one who attacks the company internally. The article says, \"Physicians, attorneys and other professionals whose job duties affect others\' lives usually receive, as part of their formal training, courses that address ethical issues common to their professions.\" But it says that IT security professionals don\'t have enough trainings that address ethical issues. As a result, they are knowledgable and skilled but not ethically trained, and there is a high chance that the knowledge/skill can be misused. Do you think this is true? Should IT security professionals (and/or similar professions) receive more ethical courses as a part of formal training?
Solution
I
i strongly think that the it is true. It is quiet obvious that the IT security professionals have greater idea about the computer and network than the the actual software developer. IT security professionals can identify the loop holes of the system as this is a part of his job. but if there is very sensitive information that need to be protected than eithics of the IT security professionals may be at stake when he will be offered or earn much more by leaking it. There is the point where persons mind can be changed.
Yes , IT security professionals should be given a proper ethical course as the part of the training because that is what that matters. If the guy is unethical all the sensitive information is at stake. In this materialistic world , it is easy to manipulate a person\'s mind with lot of money. IT or any professionals if the person guarding something if that guy itself is the one who can damage or take away the thing than there is no point of hiring that person. A position like that can only be filled by the person whom can be trusted and have a very ethical values.
