Give odds each of the following Find the odds is tavor of Pi
Solution
cinnamon faloured = 20
lemon flavoured = 25
mint flav = 15
grape flavoured = 30
pineaple flavoured = 10
a) odds in favour of fruit flavoured bean =favourable outcome / no. of unfavourable outcome
= (30+10+25)/(100 - 30 -10 -25) = 65/35 = 13/7
b) odds againts picking a cinnamon or mint = no. of unfavourable outcome/favourable outcome
= (100 - 20 -15)/(20+15)
= 65/35 = 13/7
c) Probability of fruit flavoured = 65/100 = 0.65
d) Not picking a cinnamon bean = 1 - (picking a cinnamon bean)
= 1 - 20/100 = 80/100 = 0.8
e) Picking a red bean and then a primary colured bean is a dependent event as
choosing a primary colured bean is depends upon picking a red bean as both event have red bean common
So, if fist a red bean is picked then remaining red bean would be less and that would effect of outcome of primary coloured
bean
