Compare and contrast the lives of free blacks to enslaved African Americans? What privileges and rights did free blacks have that the enslaved did not? How did free blacks work to undermine the system of slavery?

Both free black and enslaved blacks face huge amount of discrimination and had very few rights. The major difference between them was that the enslaved blacks had to work for free. Whereas, the free blacks got money for the work they did even though the money was lesser. Because the free blacks did not get proper education, they hardly could get any jobs so they ended up having a miserable life like the enslaved ones.
Free blacks could own lands, vote and pay taxes.
Free blacks played a crucila role in undermining the slavery system. Many of them became landowners and bought many of enslaved black ones to set them free. They also participated in the Civil war for the hope of freedom.
