In today\'s world where the energy sector is a critical infrastructure, it is only obvious that it would be a target for miscreants who intend to destabilize the grid. On the question as to whether the attack on the power substation was an act of terror, it is important to analyze the aim, materials used, the procedure and the damage caused. In the case of the California power substation attack, authorities report that it was a \"professional job\" because of the procedures adopted and materials used( sniper rifle). The damage, however, was not directly to humans (i.e) no human casualties were reported. Investigations ruled out the involvement of a terrorist group. Despite the heavy financial damage, the severity of the attack could be considered low. This could, however, be labeled as a precedent for similar incidents in the future which could have a more dangerous outcome.
