Ar ac 6. In fu 3. The graph of a function f is given. (a) State the value of f(1). (b) Estimate the value of f(-1). (c) For what values of x is f(x) = 1 ? (d) Estimate the value of x such that f(x)-0 (e) State the domain and range of f (f) On what interval is f increasing? ra 7-10 If it is 7. 4. The graphs of f and g are given. 0 (a) State the values of f(-4) and g(3). (b) For what values of x is f(x) g(x)?
Solution
Ans(4.a):
f(-4) means y-value of function f (red curve) when x=-4
From graph we can see that at x=-4, y=-2
so f(-4)=-2
Similarly g(3)=4
Ans(4.b):
f(x)=g(x) means points where curves f and g cross each other.
From graph we see that intersection happens at two position x=-2 and x=2
hence answer will be x=-2 and x=2
