If water is flowing out of a pipe with a cross sectional area of 5 square feet at a speed of 2 foot per second , how many cubic feet of water will exit the pipe in 10 minutes
Solution
Volume of water flowing out of the pipe per second= Area of cross section x speed per second
(volume of the cylinder is area of the cross section x height)
= 5 x 2
= 10 cubic feet
Volume of water flowing out of the pipe in 1 minute = 10 x60 = 600 cubic feet
in 10 miutes = 600 x10 = 6000 cubic feet
