If two IP cameras were installed outside a data closet in a newly renovated office building and th IP cameras where set up to transmitt their feed over the network to the Security Department. Security is receiving the feed from one camera with no problem but they are not getting anything from the other camera. the camera is ping but get no response. The camera gets rebooted and a tech goes to the building and connects his laptop to the LAN in that building a gets a good feed from the camera that wasn\'t working. When the tech returns to the security desk to check the security feed there the camera has no feed. So, why is the camera not vsible in the security program? Here are the fact; 1-The feed from the other camera installed at the same time on the same LAN is still coming through fine. 2-All the other nodes that were tested on that LAN are fully fucntional and responding to pin. 3-There are no errors reported on the LAN that host the security program. So what is the wrong with that camera?

The problem that might be faced with that camera is the blocked ports that are necessary to be opened when you are accessing the camera outside the LAN. As, it is mentioned that the camera is rebooted and is accessible by the tech when he is in the same buliding where the camera is connected to the LAN. But, when he tries to access it from the security desk which is outside the data closet, he is not getting the feed.

The problem that exist here are the ports which are blocked by the router and prevent the tech from accessing the camera from outside the LAN. Generally, these ports are, port 80 and port 37777 which sholud be opened to access the camera.Port 37777 is opened and is directed to the LAN IP address of the camera at port 37777. Port 80 is not opened directly for security reasons and an odd number can be used to open up that port on the WAN side of the router and then directing that port to the camera at the port 80.

Doing all these settings will make the router to allow to directly reach the camera and make it accessible at the security desk of the tech over the network in the Security Department.
