There has been lots of discussion about whether a person is born with leadership traits and abilities, or if they can be trained/taught to do so. In fact my graduate thesis was on this very subject, so it is near and dear to me. I would like to know your feelings, and be sure to back up with data to support. My research was extensive, and at the end of the week I will share with you what I found.

some of the studies reveals that leaders and born, but not made. some other studies reveals that leaders and made but not born. each one have their examples and supportive statements for their own studies. both may convincing and near to reality.

but in my perception, a leader is a person who really have some raw chacateristics of leadership by born, and they were reflected at the needed times. i mean to say, leaders are the people who possess those skills and attributes by birth and in the situations where their leadership is highly required, they expose them automatically.

for example: one of the greatest leader of ever is Mahatma Gandhi (India), who fought for freedom for India. he was thrown away from a passenger train in South Africa- by treating that they were Black people (Black in color). he realizes that the Indians also treating in the same way by British people in India, and came India to fight against it. before Mahatma Gandhi many were thorwn like him, and after Gandhi also done the same for many others. but no other becomes like this. as per my words, by birth Gandhi have some characteristics and attributes, in the required time those characteristics will expose.

most of people says that leadership is a skill, which can be trained or learned. but it may not true, if it is, the globe filled with so many Martin Luther Kings, Mahatma Gandhis, Mother Therisas, Chegueveras and so on. but it is not a skill, and do not think that people experience only when the leaders expose their abilities. if you take a flower it smells when it comes to mature age, similarly when the leaders walk or talk in one place, people can smell it and experience it. another simple example: in a class room, if some were attacked by others, only one or two will reacted in proper and required way, the others reacts like run from the place, tries to hide, looks for their self protection and so on. only one or two may really fights against to the incident. the one or two really possess the characteristics and show in the required times.
