Solution

Let\'s first organize the given sets

Company have stock of

Utility Knives - 900 units

Chef\'s Knives - 300 units

Slicer - 100 units.

As the maximum profit is in deluxe set, the company will produce the maximum quantity of deluxe set but as the slicers are only 100 and in every deluxe set one slicer is must so the company can only make 100 deluxe sets.

After producing 100 deluxe sets the company cannot produce any regular set as there is no slicer left.

So company could only make basic sets from the left hand stocks after producing 100 deluxe set.

In 100 deluxe set There are 300 utility Knives, 100 chef\'s knives and 100 slicers are used.

So the company left only with

Utility Knives = 600 ( 900-300)

Chef\'s knives = 200 (300-100)

Slicer = 0 (100-100)

Now every basic set requires 4 utility Knives and 1 chef\'s knives.

It means the maximum basic set could be made up is 600/4 = 150 .

150 basic sets could be made up because only 600 units of utility Knives are left and 200 chef\'s knives are left so.

After basic set the company left with only 50 chef\'s knives.

150 Basic set should be made up.

Set Utility knives chef\'s knives Slicer
Basic set 4 1 0
Regular set 2 1 1
DELUXE SET 3 1 1
