Change management is crucial to implement a change in an organization. While implementing change, there always exists some resistance from one or more stakeholders due to multiple reasons. It is important that the management clearly outlines the purpose of the change and the positive impact it is going to result in to ensure the fears of stakeholders are addressed.

Public health is the science of protecting the health of public by undertaking new initiatives and promoting the same to increase the health awareness among the public. Below is an experience on how change management helped in implementing one of the healthcare reforms inside public health arena -

Implementation of e-testing for Sexually Transmitted Infections(STI) to ensure an increased participation of the younger generation. Testing for STIs has been a taboo among the public.Sexual health clinics play a crucial role in public health as they offer to help the public know if they are infected by STIs and the safe practices to be followed to avoid the same in future. While the individuals find it awkward to go to the clinics and get them tested, e-STIs provide a much easier and convenient way to test for any STIs. While there was a resistance for the change from the public health officials as they doubted the accuracy of the test results and they are untrained in the same, increase in awareness from healthcare experts by providing training and awareness sessions has resulted in successful implementation of e-STI testing.
