Network Troubleshoot

1) Describe your experience in using command-line utilities instead of GUI utilities for network configuration – which do you prefer and why, plus the benefit of each. Describe any utilities you are familiar with.

2) Your network configuration is not functioning properly. What steps would you take to correct the problems and why?

Solution

Command line interface is good as per my experience, because we can get precise results of what we need. One command can get you all necessary information which can able to understand the synopsis of the results easily. GUI is also fine when you want to analyse the network trends like data usage, band width analysis in graphs and histograms, which can give a quick glance of what we are looking for. So most of the people will go for command line interface, even there are good GUI insghts availble. It\'s based on the convience of the admin, and I suggest to use the command line rather than GUI, to get good idea about the command line and network commands.

2.

I am unable to get the details of which configurations problems you are requested to troubleshoot the problems.

Actually there is different type of networks are available:

LAN, WAN, WLAN, MAN, SAN, and wireless etc.

For each and above configuration there are different types of configurations based on Linux and windows OS.
