Solution
The process of backward flow in supply chain means reverse flow of goods in the distribution channel, i.e. goods move at least one step or multiple steps back in the reverse supply chain, i.e. from customer to retailer to wholesaler to manufacturer to supplier. It is known as reverse logistics. By definition, it is the process of moving goods from final destination for the purpose of proper disposal or value capturing.
So, backward flow or reverse logistics is the management of all activities involved in the flow of goods, and money in the opposite direction of the typical supply chain. This process takes place for the purpose of proper disposal of items at the end of their useful life or for potential reuse and recycling or for return of defective products.
