Part 1

Instructions: Develop an Enterprise Data Warehouse plan for a company in one of the following industries: Financial Service, Telecom, Education, Healthcare, Ecommerce, Insurance, or any other except Hotel and Retail. (No Hotel, No Retail).

The Enterprise DW plan should include the following

Overview of Business (Description of business model) (100 words)

Enterprise Value Chain (Key business processes) (250 words)

Enterprise DW Bus Architecture and description of key process and conformed dimensions that span the enterprise

Discussion of DW implementation plan that includes priority order of implementation of Dimensional Models and the relevant stakeholders and decision problems supported by each dimensional model

Rubric

Overview of business and value chain discussion is included and includes key business processes

All components (dimensions, processes) of the Enterprise DW Bus Architecture are described and the architecture is consistent with value chain and business description.

Priority list is provided along with justification and is consistent with architecture and value chain

The implementation narrative clearly describes how each model or set of models from the Enterprise Bus Architecture can be used in specific decisions related to the company’s value chain.

Part 2

Instructions: Develop a Sales Cube with all relevant dimensions based on the Contoso Data Warehouse. Develop an Excel Pivot Table OLAP report for Sales in United States in 2007 (Filter) across all products (Rows) and Promotions. Develop. Develop a PivotChart to visualize the data.

Deliverable: Screenshot of Excel PivotTable OLAP Report and Pivot Chart

Enterprise datawarehouse plan for Education :-In this Enter[prise data warehouse plan for education we need to maitain the details right from the data regarding the stduents to the data regarding the directors of the partcular educational institute, forstly we need to maitain the deatils of the registered students or the academic students that are currently persuading their schooling in the institute, the details should be like name,their parents name,full address,phone number etc, and should also maitain details or newly admitted students and their details should contain name,parent ohone number etc and lately there should be heirarchichal represenntation of data i.e., class wise(from primary to secondary classes) and also should maitain details like their examination, their faculties and also result information

Enterprise value chain:-The idea of the value chain is based on the process view of organizations, the idea of seeing a manufacturing (or service) organization as a system, made up of subsystems each with inputs, transformation processes and outputs. Inputs, transformation processes, and outputs involve the acquisition and consumption of resources – money, labour, materials, equipment, buildings, land, administration and management. How value chain activities are carried out determines costs and affects profits.

Firm level:-  The appropriate level for constructing a value chain is the business unit,[5] not division or corporate level. Products pass through a chain of activities in order, and at each activity the product gains some value. The chain of activities gives the products more added value than the sum of added values of all activities
