Solve a 42 5a 36 4a 43 Select the correct choice below

Solve. a - 4/2 - 5(a - 3)/6 = 4a + 4/3 Select the correct choice below and, if necessary, fill in the answer A. a = (Type an integer or a simplified fraction.) B. The solution is all real numbers. C. There is no solution.

Solution

We have (a-4)/2 -5(a-3)/6 = (4a+4)/3. On multiplying both the sides by 6, we get 3(a-4)- 5(a-3) = 2(4a+4) or, 3a -12 -5a +15 = 8a + 8 or, 8a + 5a -3a = -12 +15 - 8 or, 10a = - 5 so that a = - 5/10 = -1/2

 Solve. a - 4/2 - 5(a - 3)/6 = 4a + 4/3 Select the correct choice below and, if necessary, fill in the answer A. a = (Type an integer or a simplified fraction.)
