A GPS recorded the following graph of the velocity function
A GPS recorded the following graph of the velocity function v(t). Based on this graph estimate the total distance traveled during the glider flight from the take off to the landing on the beach. Explain in words how you do this estimate.
Solution
The area under the curve is the distance traveled in a velocity/time graph
but note that speed is in miles per hour while time was in minutes
from rough est. with a triangle at beginnning and the square for the rest,
area under curve ~123.75 miles (h/min) *60min/h=~2.06 miles
