Can I have the answer for this question, plz

EGR 202.1 Final Examination 9. (8 points, 2 pts. each) For each of the cases below, indicate if the heat transfer rate values given for the high temperature source (OH),the temperature the work output (w) of an ideal heat engine violate or satisfy the first law of thermodynamics and violate or satisfy the second law. Give answers for both first law and second law. If there is a violation, explain its nature (that is, why is it a violation).

Solution

Case 1 : QH = 9 KW , QL = 9 KW , W = 0 KW

I law of Thermodynamics , Energy balance , -------- QH = QL+W

9 = 9 + 0 ------ Hence, 1 Law of Thermodynamics is satisfied

Although work ouput = 0 , still , 2nd Law of thermodynamics not violated

Case 2 : QH = 10 KW , QL = 5 KW , W = 5 KW

I law of Thermodynamics , Energy balance , -------- QH = QL+W

10 = 5 + 5 ------ Hence 1 Law of Thermodynamics is satisfied

Here work ouput = 5 , 2nd Law of thermodynamics is also satisfied.

Case 3 : QH = 9 KW , QL = 0 KW , W = 7 KW

I law of Thermodynamics , Energy balance , -------- QH = QL+W

9 /= 0 + 7 ------ Hence 1 Law of Thermodynamics is not satisfied.

Also QL = 0 , work is produced without rejecting heat to sink, Hence 2nd law of thermodynamics also violated.

Case 4 : QH = 6 KW , QL =3 KW , W = 4 KW

I law of Thermodynamics , Energy balance , -------- QH = QL+W

6 /= 3 + 4 ------ Hence 1 Law of Thermodynamics is not satisfied.

Also here W+QL = 3+4=7 which is greater than QL = 6, which is against the 2nd law of thermodynamics , hence 2nd law is violated.
