In circuit shown, calculate the charge stored on C_2, where V = 24 V, C_2 = 17 MuF, C_3 = 12 MuF, and C_4 = 19 MuF.

Solution

from figure, we can see that capacitors c2 and C3 are in parallel ,

Cp = C2 + C3 = 17 + 12 = 29 uF

capacitors Cp , C1 , C4 are in series ,

1/Ceq = 1/29 + 1/27 + 1/19

   Ceq = 8.05 uF

total charge is,

Qeq = CV = 8.05 * 24 = 193.2 uC

Thus, the the charge on C2 is,

Q2 = 193.2 * 17 /(17 + 12) = 113.25 uC
