A group of students conduct the Atwood\'s Machine experiment, similar to the one we did. Except they decided to hold the total mass and mass difference constant, and vary the acceleration due to gravity by traveling to other planets in the solar system. For their system, the two masses were 190 grams and 210 grams.

What is the value of the slope that the students expect to find?

Please be as detailed as possible.

Solution

Here ,

m1 = 0.190 Kg

m2 = 0.210 Kg

as the accleration is given as

a = (m2 - m1)/(m1 + m2) * g

Now , for the slope of the graph between a and g

the slope is (m2 - m1)/(m1 + m2)

slope = (0.210 - 0.190)/(0.210 + 0.19)

slope = 0.05

the slope of the graph is 0.05
