Historians have hotly debated what was the principal cause of the drastic decline of the Native-American population after the coming of the Europeans.

Solution

I agree that disease was the key factor in the depopulation of native Americans because two major reasons put by scholars are disease and Spanish atrocities. But encoimenda system was abolished there were not many Spanish to cause such large scale depopulation
