2*x +2*y = 32 ;

x + y = 16 ----(1)

length is 2 ft longer than the width : x = 2 +y ---(2)

x - y = 2 ---(2)

add (1) and (2) : 2x= 18

x =9 ft ( length)

y = 7 ft (width)

3. The perimeter of a basketball court is 90 meters and the length is 6 meters longer than twice the width. What are the length and the width?
