You are a TA preparing for a sea urchin fertilization experiment. Two species are being used in the lab. You collect sperm and eggs from each species but forgot to label which species each of your samples came from. What experiment would you do to determine which sperm and egg samples came from the same species? What observations would you make in your experiment?

Solution

Consider two species as A and B as you forgot to label. set your expt. for fertilization between sperm of A with eggs of B and between sperm of A with eggs of A. ANOTHER with sperm of B with eggs of B and between sperm of B with eggs of A. If offspring is showing same charcteristics like parent then the egg and sperm is of same species and if offspring shows some different charcteristics then the sample of egg/sperm is from another species.
