let the width be x feet

So, length = 10 + x

Perimeter will be = 2 * (x + 10 + x) = 2 * (10 + 2x)

Perimeter = 196

or, 2 * (10 + 2x) = 196

or, 10 + 2x = 196/2

or, 2x = 98 - 10

or, x = 88/2

or, x = 44

width = 44 feet

length = 44 + 10 = 54 feet

Area = length * width = 44 * 54 = 2376 feet2
