Case Study Application: What Makes a Leader?
Today’s leaders address increasingly complex challenges: globalization, the emergence of team functioning and structures, and economic downturns, to name a few. These issues call for leaders who can embrace change and cultural diversity. Organizational psychology theorists and professionals look at leadership styles that are transactional (focused on work tasks and employees’ ability to perform them) and transformational (focused on changing employees’ lives and abilities, based on vision and personal charisma).
The question of what makes an individual a good leader has fueled much research and debate in organizational psychology. Are leadership skills innate, or can one learn to be a great leader through education, professional development, and perseverance? Post by Day 3 a summary of the characteristics that describe Donny’s leadership philosophy and style. What are some of Donny’s strengths and weaknesses as a leader? What are some of his strengths and weaknesses as a manager? Now, analyze the consequences of Donny’s leadership style and the effect he has on the performance of individual team members (Choc, Herb, Harvey, Harry, Larry, David, Bruce, John, and Bradley). Donny’s leadership philosophy is Authoritative which means being unique talents, so he can makes the success to vision for the company. Affilitattive which means supports his team on right way.
Donny strength:supports team, analysis negative and positive of his team mates performance.
Weakness: Quickly he gets angry, it leads him as stubborn.
Donny strength:He was trained, team on right path, directed them to give quality output, he collected daily report as his member live perfromance.
Manager weakness: He has leader as well as coacher as well as manager, why he should involve interfight with one his team member Harry, and decided to quit the job. Donny\'s stated that harry speech lead the team for negative path. Why team members listen Harry words, Donny is the leader they should listen his words, this place donny lost his self believe. If he has gone without proper decision making, what is the future for the team. Learn to being with patience.
Donny leadership style is good but he should develop democratic leader styles which is ready to face good and bad comments. It can develop the proper decision making in the critical times.
Donny Members except Harry, everybody doing good under his leadership. But as a leader Donny also develop some unique qualities to surviving as leader for a long time.
Certainly affected, under the leader, members doing mistakes, if no leader means who can rectify their mistakes and guide them.
If I am would be donny, My concept i have to do my duties and responsibilities properly means coach and manage the team upto finals. I never want to heard what others are commenting.
