Each case AC in the diagram below shows a bar magnet and a c

Each case A-C in the diagram below shows a bar magnet and a current loop held near one another The type of interaction is specified Add to the diagram to either indicate the direction of the current or identify which end of the magnet is a North pole. Explain your reasoning A long straight wire is oriented perpendicular to the page You hold an unusual compass near the wire as shown, the compass is unusual because one end is painted purple, and the other end orange. (But you are not sure initially which of these is a north pole) The arrow on the diagram indicates the direction of geographic north As your lab partner turns the current in the wire \"on\" and \"off.\" you observe the purple end of the compass to point m the directions of the arrows shown in the diagrams below. When the current is on. is it mo the page or on: of the page? Explain your reasoning in detail. You have three metal bars, labeled 1-3. Each bar has two ends. A and B. You make the following observations about how the various ends interact: 1A attracts 3.A 2.4 repsis 1.A, and 3B attract IB. What can be said about each bar? Are any of the bars definitely a magnet?.Are any of the bars definitely a feiromagnet7 Explain your reasoning

Solution

1) A)

since magnet and loop repel so the side of loop facing the magnet is north pole

hence the current in the loop is anticlockwise when seen from the side of the magnet

B)the current in the loop is anticlockwise when seen from the side of magnet. hence polarity of the loop facing the magnet is north pole. Since it attracts the magnet so the polarity of the magnet near the loop is south pole and the polarity of the end away from the loop is north pole.

c)since the left side of the loop is pulled out of the page so the force on left side is out of the page.

using biosavart law where direction of force is dlx B we get that current is anticlockwise in the loop

since the B is towards the right
