To observe the plasmolysis with the red onion epidermis cell
Solution
To observe plasmolysis in red onion epidermis cells, it should be placed in hypertonic solution.
Hypertonic solution -- A solution having high osmotic concentration ( hence high osmotic pressure ) as compared to another solution is termed as hypertonic solution.
Hypotonic solution -- A solution having low osmotic concentration (hence low osmotic pressure ) as compared to another solution is known as hypotonic solution.
Isotonic solution -- Two solutions with the same concentration or pressure or potential are named as isotonic solution.
If animal cell is placed in hypertonic solution they will shrink in size due to exosmosis. If they are placed in hypotonic solution, they will swell or may burst due to endosmosis.
