Write your following rectangular equation using polar coordinates (r, theta) Write your final answer as r = f(theta) or in other words, solve for r. Linear equation: y = mx + b

Solution

y = mx + b

we know x = rcostheta ; y = rsintheta ;

So, substituting all :

rsintheta = rcostheta*m + b

rsintheta = rcostheta*m +b

r = (rcostheta*m+ b)/sintheta
