The intensity levels of two sound sources are 105 dB and 950

The intensity levels of two sound sources are 105 dB and 95.0 dB. What is (the intensity, and (the sound level of the combined sound sources?

Solution

Sound Level = 10 log(I / I0)

where I0 = 10^-12 W/m^2

(A)

For 105 dB:

105 = 10 log(I1 / 10^-12)

I1 = 0.0316 W/m^2

For 95 dB :

95 = 10 log(I2 / 10^-12)

I2 = 3.16 x 10^-3 W/m^2

(B) for combined:

I = I1 + I2 = 0.0316 + 3.16x10^-3 = 0.0348

Sound Level = 10 log(0.0348 / 10^-12) = 105.4 dB

 The intensity levels of two sound sources are 105 dB and 95.0 dB. What is (the intensity, and (the sound level of the combined sound sources?SolutionSound Leve
