Among these companies Sears Radio Shack Borders Blockbuster
Among these companies (Sears, Radio Shack, Borders, Blockbuster, Wal-Mart? And possibly Apple?) that have or are currently failing which pressures have they been impacedt by:
Mandated, Geopolotical, Market Decline, Fashion, Hypercompetition or Reputation and Credibility and why? There is not a right or wrong response.
Solution
Most of the above mentioned Companies are currently failing under pressures because they have been mainly impacted by Hyper-competition. In this competitive market, it is actual difficult to establish a monopoly trend for long. Take for eg., Apple. It introduced the touch technique in the smartphones to the market. However, with evolution of time, the entry of more and more smartphones in the marketplace has also started posing threats to Apple for eg., in case of the China market, Xiomi smartphones pose a major threat to the Apple’s i-phones. Globally, the nearest competitor to Apple is Samsung’s smartphones which also offer the luxurious high-end models of the product attempting to incorporate as much as features as offered by i-phone in a given market. Therefore, owing to cheaper rates of the Samsung mobiles, there is an evident growth of the Samsung market share lagging behind only from Apple.
Similarly, for Wal-Mart, the trend of online shopping of purchasing or selling goods at a competitive rate, has given a tough challenge. It is to be noted that there has been an evolution of the marketing for the online marketing space on a major way. It is gradually replacing the brick and mortar system. Here, the online leadership concept helped in acquiring and retaining the customers due to which Companies like Borders or Wal-Mart have to relatively suffer. For eg., Amazon uses the internet as the sole method for selling goods to its consumers. Amazon’s competitors, such as Barnes and Noble, and Borders use brick and mortar as their main distribution channel. However, since this method of using many store fronts is extremely costly, Amazon is in a better competitive position.
Therefore, hypercompetition has led to the creation of pressures to the above Companies.
