(please answer all, not partially. If you do not know theses all, Please don\'t answer)
1.Describe how fossils are created. What body parts are most likely to become fossilized?
2.Describe the main sources of evidence for evolution.
3.Discuss the following statement: natural selection is nature’s editor. Tell what an editor does.
Solution
1. Fossils are created by a process called permineralisation in which when an organism dies ground water enters into the spaces of the body and the minerals in the ground water would precipitate out leading to fossils formation.
hard body parts like teeth, shells, bones tend to fossilise more than soft body parts.
2.the main sources of evidence for evolution are -ancient organism remains,, fossil layers,, similarities among organisms alive today,, similarities in DNA,, similiarities of embryos.
3. As per Darwins theory of natural selection in evolution it follows survival of fittest...implying nature would accept those organisms which can adapt and acclimatize as per their respective ecosystems and living behaviour,,.
eg. polar bears in arctic and antarctic regions have thick coat of fur and high fat stores for insulation and warmth..whereas camels in deserts have humps to store water in hot deserts...,
lizards with 4 limbs turned into limbless snakes so that limbs dont hinder for crawling of snakes into crevices, and corners,.
