This is done by having a platform with shared interfaces by reducing the resistance among partners and required effort.

For example, the IS function is based on the tiered structure (top to bottom) to control the various data warehouses where as R&D function which is based on the network-based structure (each one is well connected) to get advantage of sharing of knowledge. Now if customer demands to get the pricing strategy analysis done then both the functions need to work together by utilizing a platform with the shared resources and interfaces to respond timely to the customer.
