Briefly describe how you used problem-solving skills to resolve a problem you encountered during your volunteering experience. (The problem may not have been one in the organization. It could be one you encountered that had to do with your role or how you were going to accomplish things as a volunteer.) Solution

This experience is from my volunteering at a marathon run. The marathon was of 20km long. In order to provide free refreshments to the participants, we arranged kiosks at few places along the marathon path. My role was to ensure supplies to these kiosks and handle them. After half an hour, the kiosks arranged started to get crowded. A lot of confusion got created at kiosks and also the crowd was blocking a part of the marathon path and other marathon runners were getting disturbed by this. This situation was totally unexpected and I had to handle the situation with existing volunteers. There were two to three volunteers handling a kiosk. To get a control of this situation , I decided to place only one volunteer at one kiosk and increased few number of stoppage points.In addition to this, I placed few volunteers along the path in a way that participants can collect the refreshments with out stopping the run. Then , the situation was under control and there was no further disturbance to the run.
