The company is concerned because some of the managers are having success building self-directed, high-performing teams while others are not. A discussion occurred that identified the characteristics of the successful team building elements and compared them to those managers that have not been successful. This is a situation where those who are struggling need to learn from those who are doing well. The discussions included identifying what could be going wrong and what steps might be taken for success.

You have been asked to write a research report that summarizes the meeting and offers some recommendations that might be helpful to those managers who are struggling. Specifically, your report must include:

During the meeting, we have observed that some of the managers have been struggling with their teams and their productivity is not up to the mark. We have also discussed about the managers who have built high performing teams as well and the approach they are following. We need to identify the gaps in the approach and adopt the best practices. Below mentioned are some of the difficulties the managers are facing while building their teams.

1. There is a communication gap between the team members so the objectives are not clear.

2. The team members do have the freedom to make their own decisions and work on the project delivery.

3. The team members are not motivated enough because of the work pressure.

4. There is no clear division of work among the team members.

5. The knowledge transfer sessions are very short and the team members do not understand the scope of the project.

6. Not enough opportunities to learn new tools and technologies and implement them at work.

7. The team members should have a weekly status meeting to discuss the progress and pain points.

8. The managers should avoid relying on just one or two employees for project completion.

9. Team members should take part in team building activities and learn to help each other.

10. Give the team members required exposure and allow them to discuss the requirements directly with the clients if required.
